Welcome to Columbia, North Carolina ... Part of the "Inner Banks" |
|
Columbia ParkColumbia Park, which is being developed as a Planned Unit Development, is slated to be a continuation of Columbia with traditional Columbia lot size and the addition of a park area and small ponds. The effort is to make this site part of the fabric of Columbia. The plan consists of three parts: A Single Family Neighborhood; A Central Park, and other open space; and A Mixed Use/High Density parcel located on the southern portion of the property adjacent to existing businesses. The Central Park can be an amenity for the entire town of Columbia, and only a five minute walk for all residents of this neighborhood. The residential blocks are formed by public streets and alleyways for service, parking and garage access. There is the potential for small rental units above the garages which would provide a diversity of housing types and would give homeowners options for receiving income from their properties. These garage apartments would be great for having retired parents live nearby, a first opportunity for an adult child to be on their own, as a weekend getaway for the property owner with the main home being the rental, or just as a rental for the income. The developers of Columbia Park have received preliminary plat approval for the first thirty lots, and are looking forward to starting this development in the near future. With ideas of traditional home styles including front porches lining the streets of Columbia Park and a pedestrian friendly streetscape, a wonderful sense of community will prevail in this neighborhood. |
